This is a hard post to write. Sunday, May 17 was the final day of business for La Scola’s Italian Ice and Custard, a dessert destination so dear to us that we had once planned to make it our 90th celebratory cone. As we live very near to Highland Park, La Scola’s has long been a part of after dinner walks, summer adventures, after school trips with Obama friends, and treats after circling the reservoir. For Pippa and Edmund, it was one of the first places they went by themselves. We loved refreshers, lemonades, iceburgs, and trying all the rotating flavors.
La Scola’s is a part of so many important memories for all of us and it’s hard to say goodbye, especially since our 2025 trips were few due to the 90 Cones Project. Still, we made the most of the final weeks. (Pippa went almost every day after they released their final month calendar). We are so glad to have enjoyed La Scola’s through the years, and proud that the LaScola family followed 90 Cones!
We are excited to support the new owners, and hope that there is much more ice and custard ahead for Highland Park.
All our love to the La Scola family,
The Barlows
